Yes, this is the 2025 summer bevy. Lemonade iced coffee, infused with black lemon. refreshing and bright, everything you want on a sunny day.

Black Lemon

Black lemons are a Middle Eastern ingredient hailing from the Persian Gulf. Traditionally known as loomi, lemons and limes are air dried after a boil in salted water, preserving the juicy fruit into a deeply blackened, complex aromatic. Crack ‘em open and they have a deep acidity akin to an aged vinegar. The bright acidity remains, but it’s dressed up in a black leather jacket with a white T under. I picked these bad boys up from my local Middle Eastern market. Like everything nowadays, you can find these in an online shop. I like to head out into the concrete jungles and search by hand. I implore ya to find a local business and give them your money when possible.

Black Lemon Syrup

I drew inspiration for this syrup from a recipe I made a couple of years ago. Back then, it was for matcha; today is the other caffeine giant. This syrup is so easy, and you get two tasty byproducts. We want the syrup liquid for the lemonade iced coffee. The syrup is also just great to have for quick lemonades during the impending heat waves of climate change. The lemons, though! The syrupy preserved lemons here are the unsung hero of this recipe. They make a good little tart, sweet treat, but let me tell you. These lemons are flexible: Dressing, Garnishes, Desserts, the ideas go on here. Mince them in a salad dressing or top them in a fresh cake. Let your creativity run rampant with these.

Coffee brewing

When it comes to the coffee, I’m extra. I love pour-overs. I make one just about every day. You may not be into that, and I’m here for it. I dropped a simple method down below, and my iced pourover recipe too. The simple version is so simple that all you gotta do is just extra, extra strong coffee. Anyway you like, just add extra coffee, dilute it, and cool it down with lemonade ice cubes. I left this portion up to so much interpretation because everyone makes their coffee differently. I don’t want to single out any one person and their coffee-making. Make your coffee how you like, just amp up that intensity.
